Lifelong Physical AcTivity TArgeting INequalities (ATTAIN)

We are a multi-disciplinary research network aiming to develop effective and attainable physical activity interventions, and extend healthy life expectancy in communities that experience health inequalities

Our network is supported by researchers, healthcare professionals, policy-makers, voluntary sector organisations, and community leaders

We aim to:

  • Foster collaboration among researchers nationally and internationally to facilitate cross-disciplinary insights
  • Engage communities to actively contribute to and shape the trajectory of research initiatives
  • Collaboratively develop physical activity interventions by involving non-academic stakeholders
  • Organize events that serve as forums for interaction and knowledge exchange
  • Facilitate research grants to advance knowledge of healthy ageing in underrepresented communities

Our objectives

  1. We aim to explore the health benefits of physical activity in diverse and deprived UK communities
  2. We aim to investigate the impact of physical, environmental, cultural, psychological, and social barriers to physical exercise
  3. We aim to identify solutions to ensure physically active living in underrepresented populations
